The TDA-3 directional antenna combines some of the advantages of both the omnidirectional antenna and the directional Yagi antennas. it covers all
TV band and minimizes reflection problems inside harbors. The TDA-3 provides the best possible signal in all TV bands combined in one very rigid antenna.
This antenna was first designed for the Finnish Navy and is constructed from composite materials to withstand all weather conditions expected
aboard a seagoing vessel.
The TDA-3 antenna does require either an optional manual control rotator unit or the same rotator with an interface to the new Naval Navtrac 20
Station Memory Control Unit with 1000 station memory. The Navtrac 20 automatically points the antenna at preprogrammed stations once it is within reception range (programmed in by the operator). It
also controls the DM-1 demodulators and TM-4 modulators for automatic and seamless TV reception on the ship. The individual TV sets do not have to be retuned because all the tuning is done by the Navtrac 20
using Windows Graphical User Interface software supplied with the unit. A PC computer is only required for station memory data input and setup.
